Description:

Disparities in access to affordable housing in Philadelphia is approaching a critical state, despite a long history of promises to ‘fix the problem.’ Our speaker will paint a current picture of the situation, describe the various historical and current forces that have contributed to and perpetuated the problem (like red-lining, gentrification & builders' attempts to force people out of their homes), and what organizations like the non-profit POWER Interfaith are doing to make change. Lilah will also share opportunities to get involved with current strategies, like showing up at Town Halls, sharing stories, holding house meetings, and calling on elected officials.

Bio of presenter:

Lilah Saber is the Organizing Director of the Philadelphia chapter of POWER Interfaith. She has a strong commitment to--- and many years of on-the-ground experience--- helping neighborhoods organize to make change.
